default Top Junior Shooter M1 Garand CMP Match

16 year old girl out-shoots active duty Marines and Army competitors with the M1 Garand at the CMP Western Games Garand Match of 2006. Top Junior shooter and 42nd of 135 competitors overall. What is even more remarkable is that it was only the second time she had ever shot the M1 Garand and the rifle she used was not sighted at the start of the match. Her secret of success was learning to shoot precision air-rifle and NRA smallbore rifle 4P (Distinguished Expert) before ever touching anything high-powered.

Good for her! There’s always two traits that indicate an expert shot, they don’t talk much, and the front end of that rifle looked like it was sitting on a fixed rest!

@epiphanyvideoprod
185/200 for the offhand.
Shot a 60yr old M1, beat the 2 runner ups in the offhand, all by 3 pts
They both had ARs

The M1 is possibly the coolest rifle to be shooting in NRA HP

I highly doubt that she learned to shoot in The Marine Corps, But I enjoy watching a young woman handling a M1 like she does! At least give her that credit, please!

I love this video, and i really apreciate seeing you get your kids into the wonderful world of shooting. I really liked the hat your young daughter was wearing keep up the good work. And continue preaching safety. I did however find it a bit intimadating because she could probably kick my ass in off hand. And lastly thank you for your service. :)

@epiphanyvideoprod It took me many years to get good at offhand shooting, I remember the first time I tried to shoot a clay bird offhand at 50 yards, it was not good, now I can blast them well, practice makes perfect. I would love to get a M1 and try this type of comp.

They’re not going to have to worry about her when she goes out on a date…that boy will be a complete gentlemen or he’ll be target practice. Nice shooting, Miss!

She looked like she wasn’t taking it too seriously and was having a good time. Good for her. She is a great marksman and that is not easy for anyone. Regardless of how well she did (which was great) she will only get better. Nice Video!

For what it’s worth when I was a range coach in the Marine Corps women made the best pupils for a couple reason. 1. They dont have that pride and take advice. 2. They don’t try to muscle the weapon. 3. Once you get them to not anticipate the recoil women tend to show excellent trigger control. Just my .02

She’s holding it wrong….. She would probably get a higher score with more muscles.
