How to use AIMED Point Shooting or P&S with a pistol. The US Army says we can fast and accurately aim at targets using our inherent ability to point with our index finger, and this video proves that is true. P&S is very easy to learn and maintain with little if any training and practice. Of course, pratice can improve skill. Always use safe gun handling practices.

I have a serpa and totally agree… I do empty gun training drill where my finger NEVER even touches the trigger. The solution to this problem lays with training yourself to keep your finger off the trigger until you have identified the threat and are willing and capable to put it down. only unpracticed individuals blame faulty equipment.

When you don’t have the training and you try to act cool on youtube….. you end up shooting yourself in the leg…. the guy (TGO) needs to calm down and not try to be someone he is not.
Nice top D.

@regcav87 The retention system, I am pretty sure. It is a button you have to press so you can draw the weapon. Search it on YouTube I’m sure there is a better explination.

What was reinforced for me from watching the video of the guy that shot himself: Shot placement is key. He shot himself at CLOSE range with a .45 caliber and was able to put the pistol down and walk away. The .45 did not incapacitate him with the shot to the leg. Shot placement is key to stopping an attacker.

I love your style in drawing the gun, very fluid and no jerky movements.
Derek, the you tuber who shot himself deserves alot of praise for showing his video as it shows what will happen if one thing is out of place and the importance of training without live ammo. You tube is a classroom we all can learn in.
Thanks for your timw

“THE SERPA IS NOT THE PROBLEM” I agree 110%, The locking mech doesn’t lock onto the trigger, just the trigger guard. There is always a chance of a part of your shirt getting in the way or something else as your holstering your gun, then having a neg discharge. I personaly feel it’s because of poor training and muscle memory issues. The finger should not be on trigger till you have target and sights lined up, not the other way around. Thanks for the tips Jager, much appreciated. Stay safe. -Tim

That drill that guy was doing was poorly executed. Its a training issue. He disengaged the thumb safety and put his finger on the trig WAY TOO SOON. Its a training problem. As I’ve been told many many times before. Off Target Off Trigger. On Target On Trigger. OpsGear did a vid on this “quick draw” or “rock ‘em and lock ‘em” Its one of the most dangerous drills to perform. You need a pro to teach you the drill and many dry fire drills before even going “live”. Good vid!

I agree. The hollster is not at fault . The Serpa Lock holster did not pull the trigger . The gun went off a full foot out side of it. If you think the auto lock is bad, and deadly . Just look up all the ND’s for a leather , or drop leg hollsters. The same negative argument can be made for any type of them.

What makes a serpa holster a serpa?

80% or even more, I believe, of gun accidents happen because someone didnt follow the golden rule of keeping the finger off the trigger until ready to fire.
